Sunet Roets
Founder & Owner
Sunet is the founder and owner of Boksburg Educational Centre. With more than twenty years of experience in mainstream education, she has always had a passion for learning support. She holds a Master’s degree in Education and Career Guidance and Counselling and has dedicated herself to building a supportive learning environment where every child has the opportunity to grow.

Marius Roets
Co-Founder & Principal
Marius is Sunet’s husband and biggest supporter. As Co-Founder and Principal, he helps guide the school through leadership, discipline, administration and legal matters. He is respected by staff and learners for his leadership and believes that every child deserves a second chance.

Chaney Van Der Merwe
Educator & Tutor · 1 year at BEC
Chaney is dedicated to helping learners grow in confidence and reach their educational potential. She supports learners in their academic journey and encourages them to approach learning with confidence and a positive attitude. Chaney is also a SACAI-certified invigilator.

Tamia is a vibrant and creative tutor who brings energy and imagination into the classroom. She has a deep love for working with children and creates engaging, playful learning environments that spark curiosity and joy. She also a qualified interior designer, combining her interest in aesthetics and functionality with her dream of designing inspiring spaces for children and adults.

Learning Support · 13 years at BEC
Denise has been working with children with special educational needs for more than twelve years. Her passion, commitment and special gift have brought hope to many children and parents. She is known for her understanding, compassion, support and love for each child.

Lee-Ann Steyn
Mathematics & English · 5 years at BEC
Lee-Ann taught Mathematics at Master Maths from 2012 to 2020 before joining BEC as a Mathematics and English teacher. She has valuable experience in the intermediate phase and teaches learners from Grade 3 to Grade 10. Her earlier career included working in Standard Bank’s international division, and she holds a Certificate in International Banking. She has pursued further studies in education, specialising in Mathematics and English. Her warm personality and ability to teach at different levels help make Mathematics enjoyable. Lee-Ann also offers extra Mathematics lessons. She is a SACAI-certified invigilator and uses structured routines, visual supports and interest-based activities to support learners.

Our Sensory Room
At our centre, we are proud to offer a dedicated sensory room designed to support the emotional and sensory needs of our learners.
This calm and inviting space is tailored especially for children who benefit from sensory regulation and quiet breaks throughout the day.
The room is equipped with a variety of tools and resources, including:
- Soft lighting and cozy seating for relaxation
- Tactile toys and textured items
- Visual aids, calming visuals, and sensory bottles
- Soothing sounds or quiet music
- Space for movement and deep pressure activities
This environment helps learners regulate their emotions, reduce anxiety, and refocus, allowing them to return to their learning with a sense of calm and readiness. It is a safe space where every child can feel supported, understood, and nurtured.

“The love that they have to our children are extremely pure. They put our children needs first. I don't know how can I explain these. They have equal love to all children. No discrimination at all. My children want to go to school even during holidays; they cry they want to go to school because of the love they get. They teach them that they also have rights as children. I am very happy with the quality teacher's they have, and also the school environment is very good for our children. May our living God bless you all guys, Teacher Sonet and your team. You are so? Whooow, keep it up. When I brought my grandchildren they where unable to talk, but 3 months was enough; they can talk like other children now. You will never notice that the other has autism. He can count from 1 to 100, he can also name all the colours. If something is blue he tells me that granny, that is blue colour.”

While navigating a difficult challenge, the school's leadership, specifically Principal Sunet, demonstrated an exceptional level of grace and true human compassion. The Principal personally intervened to ensure my child's education was not interrupted and provided us with a solution that allowed for their immediate return to class. This act speaks volumes about her heart and the foundational values of the school. During her time here, we have seen remarkable growth in Skylar.
